Sage Recovery & Wellness Center is a fast growing outpatient mental health center for adults and adolescents struggling with mental health, alcohol and/or substance abuse; offering individual counseling, couples & family counseling, yoga, acupuncture detoxification, group therapy and intensive outpatient group therapy programs. Sage is located in Austin, TX approximately one mile west of the Capital of Texas Highway on Bee Caves Rd. in Westlake.
Our facility is looking for a substitute yoga instructor who is passionate about helping clients learn yoga while also providing a safe space, and someone who loves to lead students through exercises that help improve well-being. We are looking for a yoga instructor who holds appropriate yoga credentials and can take our clients through cohesive yoga sequences, abide by our policies, effectively run a class, and more.
Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Develop and implement services based on clients’ daily goals and needs.
Conduct group yoga sessions.
Fill out and maintain client-related paperwork including: sign in sheets
Document the clients’ progress information in the treatment chart.
Attend staff meetings and on-site trainings as needed
Teach safe, effective exercises to a variety of populations
Maintain a current yoga certification
Wear proper uniform
Adhere to our employee standards of conduct
Complete all required staff training
Adhere to our yoga policies
Record all hours accurately
Skills & Specifications:
Maintain a positive and energetic attitude
Be passionate about mental health and wellness
Have 1-2 years of experience leading yoga classes
Knowledge/Experience in working with clients with chronic mental health and substance abuse issues is a plus.
Do not touch the clients without asking permission and only if necessary. Rather use verbal queues or demonstrate the posture yourself. Many clients come to the center with pass trauma. Physical touch of any kind can be perceived as Threating or invasive. Please be mindful of this.
Provide the clients with options for other postures. Some clients might be limited physically, while others may need options in order to make the practice their own. This aims to teach clients flexibility and a sense of control.
Know if there is any physical limitations for the clients. At the beginning of class ask clients if there are any physical limitations.
Clean up the space after the class and restore it to its original condition. Put the supplies way and clean up any sweat that might be on the floor. If they clients have used one of the centers mats, please have them spray it down and hang it outside to dry.
Complete a note in the clients file stating the general topic of class and any reactions from the client.
This is a part time position. Hours will be: Wednesdays 9-10am and/or 5-6pm
Occasional daytime or weekend marketing event in the future.
Education & Qualification:
Hold a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Instructor – 200 hour level (RYT-200) or yoga certification from a NCCA agency
Have a CPR/AED certification
