For Counselors and Social Workers
This workshop builds upon our presenter’s, Cliff Hamrick’s, experience as a counselor and as an investigator with Child Protective Services (CPS) in Travis County. Cliff knows first hand the confusion that CPS can cause for counselors and social workers, and also the fear it can bring to clients’ lives.
Anyone can be investigated by CPS, and you can benefit from this workshop if:
- You work with children
- You work with adults who have children
- You work with adults who live with children
- You work with adults who work with children
In this workshop, you will learn:
- The legal definitions of child abuse and neglect
- Your role as a mandatory reporter
- What to do when you suspect abuse or neglect
- How CPS operates and affects your clients’ lives
When: Saturday, October 8th, 9:30am-12:30pm

Meet our presenter:
Cliff Hamrick, LCDC, LPC-S
Cliff Hamrick has been in private practice for five years and specializes in working with addictions, male clients, and eating disorders. During his internship, he worked with Child Protective Services (CPS) where he learned the behind the scenes activities and decision-making processes of that agency. In his spare time, he enjoys learning about survival skills and has started a YouTube channel called Mental Survival.
