Clinical depression, or major depressive disorder (MDD), is a mental health disorder that affects over 20 million individuals in the U.S. every year. As a serious mood disorder, depression causes persistent sadness, loss of interest, loss of pleasure, and significant functional impairment that impacts overall well-being. Treatment is imperative, as long-term chronic depression can cause chronic health issues.
We use an integrated, person-centered model that blends psychotherapy, medication management, and evidence‑based interventions. Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment to identify biological, psychological, and social contributors to depression, and then a tailored plan is developed with measurable goals, pacing, and progress checks. Ongoing reassessment ensures care evolves with your needs—combining symptom relief with skills for lasting recovery.
Our treatment is delivered in a discreet, comfortable setting designed to support reflection, rest, and therapeutic work. With private, calming spaces and attention to safety and confidentiality, we create an environment that reduces stress and enhances focus on healing. The setting complements clinical care—promoting restorative sleep, emotional safety, and the practical routines that support recovery.
Our programs offer evidence-based treatment for adults, adolescents, and professionals. Evidence-based therapies that we commonly use to treat depression include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). These treatment modalities help address depression symptoms while building coping skills that support long-term mental health.
At Sage Recovery & Wellness Center, we encourage clients to actively engage in a full continuum of care. Coordinated transitions and shared treatment goals ensure continuity of care across levels of care, so you receive the support you need at each stage of recovery. Active engagement across the continuum strengthens relapse prevention, resilience, and supports sustainable reintegration into daily life.
At Sage Recovery & Wellness Center, we know that family support significantly improves treatment outcomes. We encourage family involvement and offer support for family members. Through psychoeducation, family therapy, and family events, our expert team offers care that helps you and your family members heal.
Targeted treatment reduces core symptoms—persistent low mood, anhedonia, sleep disturbance, and impaired concentration—while restoring motivation, self‑confidence, and daily functioning. Over time, therapy and medication improve sleep, relationships, and decision‑making, and teach coping strategies to manage setbacks. The goal is greater emotional stability, renewed engagement in meaningful activities, and improved long‑term well‑being.
Depression commonly presents as persistent sadness, irritability, feelings of worthlessness, and suicidal ideation and thoughts in severe cases. Symptoms fluctuate but are typically persistent enough to impair daily functioning and quality of life. Treatment targets mood regulation, safety planning when needed, and rebuilding emotional resilience.
Depression often produces withdrawal from activities, neglected responsibilities, changes in sleep and appetite, slowed movement or speech, and decreased self‑care. Interventions focus on behavioral activation, routine rebuilding, and practical strategies to restore productivity and social engagement.
Cognitive effects include poor concentration, indecision, and slowed processing. Depression frequently co‑occurs with anxiety, trauma‑related disorders, bipolar disorder, and substance use—necessitating integrated assessment and treatment that address all presenting conditions concurrently.

At Sage Recovery & Wellness Center, we offer a full continuum of care for depression. Split between the Recovery Villa and Westlake Center, we provide evidence-based treatment modalities and holistic health care that addresses your unique needs.
Inpatient treatment at the Sage Recovery Villa, where you stay at the treatment center 24/7, is available for adults, families, and professionals. We provide luxury accommodations that support your needs throughout treatment and therapy sessions. The average stay in residential treatment is 35 days, but we offer up to 60 days of inpatient treatment for those who would benefit from a longer stay.
In our partial hospitalization program (PHP), you receive structured care and support. PHP allows you to live off premises while still attending regular scheduled sessions that can include group therapy, individual therapy, and holistic treatment options. We offer PHP at our Recovery Villa for professionals, families, and adults.
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Westlake Center offers greater flexibility than our inpatient and PHP programs. IOP is available to adults, families, professionals, and adolescents and allows you to manage responsibilities outside of treatment.
At Westlake Center, we also offer individual therapy and general outpatient services for adults, families, professionals, and adolescents. Outpatient treatment is ideal for individuals who are seeking continuing support after more intensive treatment or those who require a high level of flexibility during treatment.
We treat depression as a multifactorial condition requiring coordinated biological, psychological, and social interventions. Care plans explore the root cause and provide symptom stabilization and practical coping skills. Treatment is matched to your needs—some recover with outpatient care, while others benefit from more structured programs. Our approach always focuses on long‑term recovery.
We pride ourselves on providing multiple evidence-based treatment options that address the root causes and symptoms of depression. In our treatment programs, we incorporate multiple treatments in a holistic approach.
In cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), you learn to identify patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT is a form of talk therapy that helps you to address patterns that no longer serve you and build new patterns that support your long-term mental health.
In dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), you learn mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation. DBT is a type of therapy that can help reduce self-harming behaviors that are common with depression.
As an evidence-based treatment option, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) helps improve mental health through improved mental flexibility. It helps you to accept your feelings, observe thoughts, and define what is meaningful to you.
The act of being mindful is the act of awareness. In mindfulness-based therapies, you learn to notice your own emotions, thoughts, and patterns. At Sage Recovery & Wellness Center, we know that increased awareness is essential to growth and change, and we use mindfulness-based therapies to build awareness as a skill foundational to improved mental health.
All care is trauma‑informed: we recognize trauma’s impact on depression, prioritize safety and empowerment, and adapt interventions to avoid re‑traumatization while treating co‑occurring trauma‑related symptoms.
Clinical treatments are paired with lifestyle and wellness support—sleep and nutritional guidance, movement and stress‑reduction practices, and complementary services that restore balance across mind and body. This whole‑person approach reinforces clinical gains and supports sustainable recovery.
