Jose is a strong advocate for people living with substance use and/or mental health challenges and conveys his own lived experience to any environment, to break the stigma of people who have been system impacted.

Over the past 10 years, Jose has worked with youth and adults in various treatment settings and is passionate about supporting people along their journey to recovery. Jose is also a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, Internationally Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor, Substance Abuse Professional, Internationally Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional, Justice Involved Re-Entry Peer Specialist, and Community Health Worker. Jose is a graduate of the San Antonio College where he earned an Associates of Applied Sciences in Human Services w/ a Specialization in Addictions Counseling, as well as The University of Texas A&M-San Antonio, where he earned a B.A.A.S in Social Sciences. He is currently working towards a graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling.

On his off time Jose enjoys spending time with his significant other and his three step-daughters, acting silly with his two pups Polo and Eliana, and engaging in sports related activities such as sand volleyball, softball, and basketball. He also volunteers in providing reentry peer support to incarcerated individuals all across the State of Texas.
