Sage Recovery & Wellness Center is an outpatient mental health center for the whole family. We offer individual, family, and couples counseling and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for both mental health and substance use. Sage is located in Austin, TX approximately one mile west of the Capital of Texas Highway on Bee Caves Rd. in Westlake.
Sage is currently seeking an intensively trained DBT therapist. This can be a part or full-time position depending on desired hours and programmatic needs. Duties may include group, individual, couples, and/or family therapy, as well as conducting assessments.
DBT therapist duties and responsibilities Include:
Facilitation of individual, group, couples, and family therapy utilizing DBT techniques and other appropriate interventions
Developing and implementing treatment plans based on clients’ goals and needs
Conducting intensive outpatient group therapy up to 3 days per week following the evidence based program model
Conducting individual, couples or family therapy sessions and assessments based on center’s census
Maintaining client-related paperwork including: mandated forms, client diagnostic records, and progress notes within the timeframe the company policy allows (Daily treatment notes, treatment plans, treatment plan updates, discharge summaries
Distributing and collecting urine drug screens from clients
Collaborating with other staff members and Medical Director to perform clinical, diagnostic assessments and/or develop treatment plans
Developing relapse prevention plans, promote continuity of care and assist clients in the step down process from treatment; referring patients, clients or family members to community resources or specialists as necessary
Conducting wellness check calls to clients after discharge and welcome calls to incoming clients
Documenting client progress and diagnostic information in the treatment cha
Counseling family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, or supporting clients
Keeping the referring physician fully informed of the clients’ needs and progress and works with providers to formulate continuous treatment
Attending all-staff meetings, clinical meetings, and other relevant staffing requirements and on-site trainings
Maintaining requirements to keep license (LPC, LCSW, LMSW, LPC-I, LMFT, LCDC) current
Occasionally conduct weekly family education group, skills groups, or other aftercare group options
Attending occasional marketing events off-site, which could include an evening or weekend event.

Skills & Specifications:
Certified in DBT or intensively trained
Experiential or expressive arts therapies experience a plus
Proficiency in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders
Experience and knowledge in working with clinically diverse populations, and the ability to communicate that knowledge effectively
Knowledgeable of clinical documentation and EMR. Experience with CareCloud a plus
Displays a high level of professionalism with both clients and coworkers, ensuring appropriate professional boundaries
Knowledge of efficient and effective treatment and management of clients with chronic mental health and substance abuse issues, using a trauma-informed approach
Knowledge of 12-step programs (and other support groups)
Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral assessments and interventions relevant to mental health conditions, i.e., disease model, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)
Knowledge of basic psychopharmacology and medical terminology
Familiarity with the stages of change and stages of recovery
Case-management skills and knowledge of local resources for outside referrals
At least one year of experience working with substance abuse and mental health
Hours: This can be a full-time, part-time, or PRN position. A day-to-day schedule will be discussed and approved by the Executive Clinical Director, prior to beginning the position.
Education & Qualification:
Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work (LMSW, LCSW, LPC-i, LPC, LMFT)
DBT certified or intensively trained
Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) a plus
Acudetox Specialist a plus or willingness to get certified
