President & Founder, Sage Recovery Austin. Prior to opening Sage Recovery, Tiffany had clinical experience in high schools, intensive psychiatric care, inpatient detox, intensive outpatient programming, as well as administrative roles creating clinical procedures, resource databases and auditing for regulatory compliance. In her varied experience, Tiffany knew there were elements that were missing that could make a larger impact in the success rate of a client’s recovery and mental wellness. This led her to open the doors to Sage Recovery & Wellness Center in 2014 and Sage Recovery Villa, a residential treatment center for adults in 2018. Tiffany is passionate about community outreach, education and helping future Social Workers by serving as Co-Chair on the Dean’s Advisory Board at the The University of Texas at Austin Steve Hicks School of Social Work.
Not only am I a holistic doctor, but I am a husband, a brother, a father, a friend. I have been hurt, I have watched loved ones die too early and too quickly to cancer. I have been over weight, over tired and at times not sure what I wanted to do in life. I’ve questioned myself way too many times and put way too much pressure on myself. I, too, am human.
My journey into this work actually started pretty simple when I was very young when some of my family told me, “Hey you’re smart. You should be a doctor”. I also realized I have various types of doctors in my family. My great grandmother was even a midwife so I think it’s in my blood.
I also grew up as an overweight child and I was made fun of all the time. With the help (force) of my mom (she told me I would have a heart attack if I didn’t lose weight…talk about a fun discussion as a 3rd grader…) I started to eat better. I lost weight and also got into sports (well forced again…I was insanely shy as a kid and was so upset I had to do sports) which I ended up loving and excelling in through out school. As I felt better both on the inside and out about who I was, I became more and more excited on being a doctor.
In college, I doubted myself wondering if I would be good enough as my cousin who was and still is one of the most amazing doctors, and even quit after finishing my pre-med college courses with a 4.0. I left thinking I would never be a doctor because I thought I didn’t want to be.
Without going into exhaustive detail, I soul searched…a lot, some times coming to a dead end. I finally came back full circle realizing I only had to be the best I could be and to run my own race. I chose natural therapies as my focus for one main reason: I couldn’t live with myself operating on someone or giving a medication if there was something out there naturally that would help them. I am not anti-drug but I am pro health. This is what made sense to me and if they needed medication or surgery, then I would find the best doctor for them and they will be ready in every other aspect of their health. My passion ignited again for this work ,and I went to complete my studies in Chiropractic school, my masters in nutrition with a focus on evidence-based medicine, and well over 800 hours of post graduate work.
I opened up my first practice in NYC and loved it. We grew an exciting, fun practice with many wonderful patients. I met my wife and we soon had our son. We wanted to get closer to family so we moved back to Texas and now live in Austin. Due to all of this, a large portion of my practice is virtual so I can work with anyone almost anywhere.
My goal for my patients is to be unapologetically authentic. I will tell you exactly what I think and how I think I could help or not help. My practice isn’t for everyone and that’s not the goal. I truly think I can help everyone is some way but this is not up to me. If you are ready to be helped or want to work on your health to not get sick, I am here and I am ready. All you have to do is reach out.

My name is Shae Millette and I work at Sage Recovery and Wellness Villa as a Case Manager. I work closely with our current residential attendees and their families to ensure that they are receiving quality and holistic care and assist them in preparing a manageable and effective aftercare plan so that they are able to build a strong foundation in their recovery. I have been working in the treatment industry for four years now and am certified as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist. What I love most about working in the treatment industry is the opportunity to bear witness to others’ personal transformation and growth. It’s only the beginning and it is a beautiful one.
I do believe that when we face challenges in life that are far beyond our own power, it’s an opportunity to build on our faith, inner strength, and courage. I have learned that how we face our challenges plays a big role in the outcome of them. I myself have known all too well what hopelessness feels like, my job allows me the opportunity to show people there is another way and happiness can be attained even in the face of the irretrievable.

My passion lies in helping clients manage addiction, HIV diagnosis, chronic illness, and healthy sexuality.
Substance is an all-too-familiar element in my life, leading me to seek treatment in 2010. Through hard work and determination, I was able to replace addiction with recovery and began my college career in 2012. I am proud to say that I received my Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin in 2020, something I never could have accomplished while living in addiction.

Joining the Sage team more than 2 years ago has been a fulfilling experience, as I continue to expand my knowledge in an industry that is constantly evolving.
In my current role, I focus on a topic that I believe is still considered “taboo” within the Hispanic/Latino community. Through my work, I aim to raise awareness and educate others about the importance of medical billing and coding in healthcare.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my two kids and exploring our community. Whether it’s trying out new restaurants or visiting local parks and museums, I cherish every moment with my family.

“Although I have been cooking since I was single digits, I am also a graduate of the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. Having traveled my own journey of grief and loss recovery opened my eyes to the realization that proper, balanced nutrition was not a priority for some in the recovery and wellness industry. Feeding a healthy mind the tools it needs to overcome it’s struggles, starts with feeding a healthy body. I knew by the end of my journey, I wanted to be apart of that change. Love through food is my favorite expression, and every client that comes through Sage deserves that.
In my free time, you can find me on a softball field, in a coffee shop, or at home snuggled up with my Great Dane.”
“For the first time in my life, Sage has helped me find my purpose and that is helping others. Working at Sage Recovery is probably the best job I’ve ever had. Everyone here is kind, caring, and compassionate. They love helping one another and our clients in any way they can. In my free time I love going to my son’s football and basketball games. My son is what keeps me motivated to stay sober.”
