Program Therapist
Emily earned her Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to receiving her MSSW, Emily gained experience working in the chemical dependency field with individuals experiencing homelessness at an Austin-based non-profit agency. This work helped solidify Emily’s passion for working in the chemical dependency and mental health field and to pursue a Master’s degree in social work.
While working on her MSSW, Emily interned at a local inpatient chemical dependency treatment facility, working as a substance use therapist. During that time, Emily also served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Social Work Research’s Health Behavior and Research Training Institute, studying the efficacy of utilizing Motivational Interviewing with alcohol-related physical traumas. Upon graduation, Emily’s unyielding commitment to substance use work and social justice led her to continue working in homeless services with another local agency serving individuals experiencing chronic homelessness with severe and persistent mental health and chemical dependency struggles.
Emily comes to Sage Recovery and Wellness Center with several years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse fields, intent on continuing to empower individuals towards awakening to their fullest potential.
