January CEU: Pain and The Brain. The Science Behind Pain and How to Recover Successfully

Presented by Dr. James Flowers, LPC-S
Hosted by Sage Recovery & Wellness Center
Free | Lunch Provided | Lunch Served 11:30-12:00

Medical teams and natural supports (family and friends) of pain patients often respond to pain complaints by telling the client the pain is all “in their head”. Funnily enough, it is! Pain and the brain are inseparable. Approximately 70% of our physical pain is an emotional response to physical pain. We will discuss how to work with the chronic pain population by enabling our patients to thrive in life, not just survive.

Presentation objectives:

  1. Attendees will discuss five techniques to relieve the emotional impact of chronic pain on our nervous system.
  2. Attendees will describe the difference between chronic pain and chronic pain syndrome.
  3. Attendees will assess which comes first? Pain, Addiction or Opiates?
