Why Families and Teens Choose Sage Recovery & Wellness Center

Sage Recovery & Wellness Center is a trusted treatment provider for professionals, industry peers, and their loved ones. We integrate holistic care with evidence-based treatment to support individuals managing addiction, mental health conditions, and co-occurring disorders.

Personalized Treatment Planning: Treatment plans are individualized and adjusted over time, ensuring the right level of support throughout recovery.

Trauma-Informed Care: We prioritize trauma-informed care, recognizing that many individuals have experienced past trauma that impacts their mental health. Our therapeutic environment fosters safety, trust, and empowerment – helping clients heal while building a healthier future.

Academic Support: In adolescent IOP, we offer academic support to help teens stay on track in school. Through academic support, teens learn problem-solving skills that improve their mental health after treatment.

Flexible Scheduling to Fit Your Lifestyle: Our IOP is offered in the evening after school and work hours, allowing adolescents to still attend school and focus on their mental health, and parents to attend the weekly evening programming.

Treating Teen Alcohol Addiction

Teen alcohol treatment commonly includes individualized treatment programs, behavioral therapy, skill building, family therapy, and medication. We offer an individualized treatment plan for each teen, allowing us to address their unique needs. Our programs rely heavily on behavioral therapy modalities that help teens build skills for long-term recovery.

We incorporate family members into the treatment process, as we know that teens struggling with alcohol abuse impact their families and that family dynamics play a role in recovery. Utilizing individual therapy, we blend evidence-based treatments with whole-person centered care.

Signs of Alcohol Addiction in Teens

Teens struggling with alcohol addiction may exhibit physical signs such as bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, lack of coordination, and changes in sleep. Emotionally, alcohol addiction in teens increases emotional instability, causing mood swings and extreme irritability. Teens who are struggling with alcohol abuse will also show signs in their day-to-day life, including dropping grades. Additional signs include changes in their social group or social life, as well as a lack of interest or engagement in hobbies and activities.

Alcohol Use Disorder Treatment Options for Teens

We offer alcohol treatment that helps teens address the root causes of their alcohol abuse. Treatment supports recovery from addiction-related physical effects and teaches teens skills to manage cravings and sustain long-term recovery. Using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches, our program helps adolescents overcome alcohol abuse and restore overall wellness.

How Do I Know if Adolescent IOP is Right for My Child?

Continued Support for Co-Occurring Mental Health Disorders

We provide mental health treatment through teen IOP and outpatient individual therapy, treating co-occurring conditions that often drive alcohol and/or drug use. Addressing underlying mental illness is a core part of recovery and is integrated into each teen’s individualized treatment plan.

Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program

Teen IOP offers a high level of structure, support, and care. The 9-week program offers a structured yet flexible approach to mental health care that allows teens to continue attending school and fulfilling other responsibilities.

Teen IOP combines individual, group, and family therapy to address teens’ needs while actively involving caregivers in the recovery process. Our clinical setting supports comfort, safety, and long-term recovery, providing a structured environment where adolescents can learn skills, practice coping strategies, and work through their challenges.

Outpatient Program

Our outpatient individual therapy program offers greater flexibility. We offer therapy based on individualized treatment plans that allow teens to attend school and participate in activities while still receiving the care they need. Our outpatient program helps teens address mental health challenges, build skills they can use in daily life, and leverage their unique challenges to develop and test new skills.

Which Type of Counseling Is the Right Choice for my Teen?

Co-Occurring Mental Health Disorders We Treat

We treat teens who are struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. Common mental health disorders that we treat include anxiety, depression, acute stress reactions, and major depressive disorder (MDD). We also provide care for trauma-related problems and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bipolar disorder, codependency, and grief and loss. Using evidence-based therapies and whole-person care, we help teens address underlying causes and develop lasting coping skills for recovery.

Our Evidence-Based Therapies

We are an industry-trusted treatment center, offering individualized, whole-person-focused care. It is our philosophy that skill-building helps teens to develop the capacity to care for their needs. Our treatment services help young people build a life full of health and wellness. We incorporate behavioral health treatment modalities, including individual and group therapy, into our teen treatment programs.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a highly structured behavioral health intervention. In CBT, teens gain awareness of the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. They then learn how to interrupt these patterns and build new ones that better support their mental health. CBT is useful for teens struggling with mental health challenges and co-occurring alcohol addiction.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a structured, evidence-based psychotherapy that we rely heavily on in our treatment programs. It is designed to help individuals manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and reduce the risk of suicide.

Through DBT, teens learn mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal communication. These skills help teens balance acceptance with change. The aim is to help teens feel more connected, involved, and engaged in their daily lives, increasing happiness and well-being.

Group Therapy

We offer group therapy as part of our teen alcohol addiction program as a way for teens to develop skills and build relationships. Each support group is different, depending on the individuals involved and the day’s goal. They commonly focus on skill-building, address the group as a whole, and offer a safe space for teens to try new methods of problem-solving and communication.

Support For the Entire Family

We understand that teen alcohol addiction impacts the entire family, and that the family system impacts teens. Therefore, we encourage family involvement through the treatment process. Support for family members and caregivers includes psychoeducation, family therapy, and family programs. Family therapy is built into our teen IOP program and highly encouraged in outpatient treatment.

Our treatment center is professional and inviting for teens and parents. We provide care that both teens and parents can engage in, and ensure that parents understand the treatment process at every step.

Our expert staff guides teens through experiential care, helping them learn from holistic treatments.

FAQs

How does Sage offer support to families?

We offer support to families through family programs, family therapy, psychoeducation, follow-up care, and an easy admissions process.

Families play an important role in a teen’s recovery process. Support for families involves education and healing for the entire family. We help parents and caregivers learn to better support their teens and provide care for the entire family, helping every family member in the healing process.

Warning signs a teenager may need an alcohol or drug rehab program include sudden changes in behavior or social circles, declining grades or attendance, secretive or risky actions, and increasing isolation.

Physical indicators may include bloodshot eyes, unexplained weight changes, slurred speech, or frequent intoxication and blackouts. If drinking alcohol leads to mood swings, withdrawal symptoms, harm to self or others, or interferes with school and daily life, professional substance abuse treatment is needed.

As a parent or caregiver, you can help your teen stop drinking by opening safe and supportive communication and helping them get the help they need. The first step in helping your teen is to build a relationship that is based on trust and open communication. This allows you to connect with your teen, learn more about the challenges they are experiencing, and keep communication channels open.

If your teen is struggling to stop drinking, you can help them by getting them professional help. Early intervention for teens with alcohol addiction is highly effective and protects them from long-term alcohol or drug abuse.

We do not provide detoxification for teens, but we refer families to accredited local detox programs that can manage withdrawal symptoms safely. Our partnerships ensure a smooth transition from detox into teen IOP at Sage, so adolescents receive a continuum of care from stabilization through outpatient treatment.

We do not provide medication management or medication-assisted treatment (MAT). However, our case managers can help connect teens with an adolescent prescriber.
