Individual therapy is an one-on-one 60-90 minute session with a masters level therapist in a safe, caring and confidential environment that allows space to explore and work through feelings, belief, behaviors, thoughts, and influential memories. People seek therapy for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to, identifying and working towards desired change, set personal goals, cope with major life challenges or trauma, and dealing with mental health diagnoses. The client and therapist will work together to identify the specific target area and create specific goals around issues.
Family therapy is done to assist family members in improving communication and resolve existing conflict. It is conducted by master level clinicians in a confidential, safe, and caring environment. The family will work together to identify specific areas of concern and work together as a team to resolve it. While in therapy, the focus is put on increasing skills around handling conflict, thus, reducing it. Family therapy can also be used for a family who’s loved one is engaging in risky behavior, in order to help the family establish boundaries with that loved one and learn tools to assist them in helping this individual get help or to maintain their sobriety.
Couples counseling is the process of working with two people (dating, married, partnered, or parenting jointly) on existing road blocks in the relationship. Instead of an individual being thought of as the client, the relationship issues are considered the client. Clients will work with a trained therapist to identify the specific area(s) of concern and move the relationship from being stuck to functional. While in a safe and confidential environment, couples are able to explore individual thoughts, beliefs, concerns, and expectations that may be influencing their relationship in a positive or negative way. Immediate issues will be addressed and goals around treatment will be established to ensure progress and growth, to re-establish happiness in the relationship.
A trained Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist applies fine gauge, sterilized, one-time use stainless steel needles just under the skin in five designated points in each ear. A typical session includes placement of the needles to which they remain in the ear for 30-45 minutes. Clients will receive treatment while seated in a group. Some of the benefits reported by clients and clinicians are “a more optimistic and cooperative attitude towards the process of recovery, reduction in cravings, anxiety, and sleep disturbance, and less need for pharmaceuticals”.
Yoga Therapy promotes wellness through encompassing a physical, psychological, and spiritual healing. Traditional yoga positions, breathing exercises, and relaxation/meditation techniques are used to explore psychological issues to create a pathway to inner and outer balance. It can be particularly helpful with chronic conditions included but not limited to mental health concerns, addiction, and chronic pain.
Sessions are offered in a group setting as well as individually in a 50 minute time slot. Individually, clients will work with a trained master level clinician, who is also a certified yoga teacher, to set clear expectations and goals for treatment. These session include talk therapy around thoughts or emotions that come up during physical sequences. In a group setting, clients will be teach a sequences and be provided with education on the significance of the movement, however, the processing of thoughts and emotions are limited, if at all.
Our Continuing Addiction Recovery Education (CARE) Group is for individuals who have spent some time in recovery, have completed an Intensive Outpatient Program, and who want to continue their growth and reinforce the recovery skills learned through treatment in a group setting. Led by one of our master’s level clinicians, this group is held weekly on Thursdays from 6-7:30pm, and addresses topics such as boundaries, self care, coping skills, mistaken beliefs, and integrating sobriety into daily life.
Our qigong provider (pronounced “chee gong”) uses the “Sheng Zhen Gong” method: a system of standing, sitting, and lying qigong forms and contemplations that are designed to open the heart. Qigong has been shown to improve the lives of those who practice it by harmonizing the body, quieting the mind and balancing the emotions. The practice is designed to bring about a feeling of well-being, harmony with one’s surroundings, and a feeling of divine contentment.
